Non-Toxic Vinegar Weed Killer

This DIY weed killer is an easy and affordable way to manage weeds without harsh chemicals. It requires only three simple ingredients from the kitchen. It works by contact and results are visible within hours. This recipe, along with a little manual weeding, can make weed control much easier and healthier for the yard and air.

Ingredients:

1 gallon of white vinegar

1 tablespoon of dish soap

1/2-1 cup salt (optional)

Instructions:

Fill a spray container with 1 gallon of white vinegar.

Add one tablespoon of dish soap to the vinegar.

Pour in salt (optional)

Mix the solution thoroughly until ingredients are well combined.

Pour your desired amount into a garden sprayer.

For a smaller batch: This recipe could also be cut in half and poured into a spray bottle with a stream setting.

Note: It's perfect for those pesky weeds that can sprout up in the cracks of driveway and sidewalk cement or stones. It can be less effective on certain deep rooted weeds. It is best to squirt weeds in the early morning or late afternoon and when no rain is expected within 24 hours. Use caution when applying near plants or bushes and always use a stream setting.. and watch out for little critters like lizards :)

Dish soap is what helps the solution stick to the weeds for effectiveness. Salt and vinegar increase the dehydration effect. Salt can affect the PH of the surrounding soil, so it's best to not use in excess. Although non toxic, use some caution when mixing and spraying, or wear gloves if skin is sensitive.
